Hi there, I'm Michael Sy Lee. I currently live in Manhattan where I work, play, and sleep. I have a background in design and science which would make me a rare breed of designologists. A lot of my work as a designer focuses on interactive experiences, human factors research, and narrative strategies.

My Story

When I was younger, my sister Suzanne introduced me to design while she was attending The School of Visual Arts in NYC. It was then that I was exposed to various types of design disciplines. Despite my interest and knack in the creative domain, I pursued an education in biology upon graduating high school. The next four years of studying science featured great friends, a loathing of organic chemistry, and a keen interest in human behavioral studies.

A series of events led me to a summer internship as a web designer/developer in the IT department at Quest Diagnostics*. This eventually lead to a full time job while I attended my final year of undergraduate studies. After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in biology, I was primed and set to attend Parsons School of Design for my Masters degree in Design and Technology. Little did I know that the next two years would completely change my life.

During graduate school, I was able to gain experience in a diverse set of disciplines. Some of these include information design, graphic design, narrative strategies, motion graphics, human factors research, and of course - interaction design. Living in New York City has also provided daily inspiration that has become vital to my growth as a person and a designer.

The summer before my final year of my Masters degree, I was accepted as an intern at the digital agency, R/GA*. After a summer of working on some amazing projects, I continued working at R/GA while completing my final year at Parsons. Following graduation, I joined R/GA full-time and this is where I am today.
